The North Oakland Baseball Federation (NOBF) was established in 1983 as an elite league for student athletes between the ages of 8 and 18. The goal was to provide these players the best possible opportunities to continue to excel at higher competitive levels, whether in high school, college or beyond.

In 2016, over 110 teams and more than 1,300 players from Oakland, Macomb, Lapeer and Genesee counties participated in the league's regular season - normally May to July. Many teams earned state and national recognition in AABC post-season play, as well as with other major governing organizations.

On the community level, NOBF donates considerable time and funds to support the improvement and long-term development of baseball fields and facilities in North Oakland County and surrounding regions. As a major source of high school talent in the region, NOBF recognizes and supports not only athletic excellence, but academic as well. As of 2016, hundreds of former NOBF players had been, or currently were, on college rosters, and several in the professional ranks.
